Copper jewelry-making with Dennis Shorty
9:45am to 4:30pm (lunch included)
$75 per person

Spend the day with multimedia artist Dennis Shorty, learning how to make a pendant, bracelet, or set of earrings. Gain confidence using hand tools and leave with a unique copper creation of your own. 

October 26 to 30
Babiche bags with Suzan Marie
9am to 5pm (lunch included)
$250 per person

Come and spend a week making a traditional Dene Babiche Bag with Suzan Marie, author, educator and renowned artisan. Each day, you’ll learn the techniques and processes of creating your own babiche bag, from start to finish. You’ll leave with a handcrafted, practical and decorative bag, personalized to your liking with a variety of dyed porcupine quills and tassels. 

Suzan is an amazing source of knowledge and has played a very large role in the revival of this craft. Come listen, share, and learn. Don’t miss out on this amazing experience!

Intro to Quillwork with Master Dene artist Suzan Marie

5pm to 8pm (light snacks provided)
$100 per person (all materials included)

Join Master Dene artist Suzan Marie from 5pm to 8pm at the KDCC artist studio for a four-day workshop on the intricacies of quillwork. Participants will complete a small bag by the end of the course.

Old Style Pointed Toe Baby Wrap Arounds with Master Dene artist Suzan Marie
10am to 4pm (light snacks provided)
$100 per person (all materials included)

Join Master Dene artist Suzan Marie from 10am to 4pm at the KDCC Artist Studio for this two-day workshop on old style pointed toe baby wrap arounds. 

November 14
Melton mittens with mitt string with Diane Olsen
9am to 5pm (lunch included)
$60 per person

Spend the day with artist Diane Olsen, learning how to make your own pair of Melton mittens complete with a string. Decorative materials like beaver fur, beads, ribbon trim, wool and felt for designs will be available. Basic sewing skills required. Maximum 10 participants for this workshop.

Traditional dolls with Dolores Scheffen
11am to 4pm
$150 per person

Join artist Dolores Scheffen in this five-day, hands-on workshop, learning how to put together a beautiful handcrafted doll of your very own, complete with their own tiny regalia. Choose from materials like beads, wool, fur and sinew to personalize your doll. Previous beading and sewing experience is required. All materials included.

COVID-19 safety measures

YFN Arts and the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre have taken the following precautions in efforts to keep you safe.

  • Tables and participants will be spaced 2 metres apart.
  • Sanitizers and disinfectants will be available.
  • Masks are not mandatory but are recommended.
  • Each participant will be given their own tools for the week to reduce use of shared surfaces.

If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms, have an underlying health condition, or have travelled outside the Yukon, Nunavut, NWT, or BC in the last 14 days, please withdraw from the workshop for a full refund.
